[Disappearance_of_the_Universe] GoThomas Logion 23 DU 77
quote
23. Jesus said, "I shall choose you, one from a thousand and two from ten
thousand, and they will stand as a single one."

from Patterson/Meyer at
www.gnosis.org/naghamm/gosthom.htmlDU then says:
quote
Of course, J chooses everyone, all the time. But how many are ready to
listen? As this saying obviously foretold, the lessons of the Holy Spirit
will not be listened to by the masses. But the ones who listen, who are
the chosen ones, will surely stand as a single one -- for that is what
they are. God's son shall return to the Kingdom whole and complete, and in
the end there will be no one who does not stand with us. The J underground
cannot loose.

The allusion obviously is to the Course:
quote
11 I cannot choose for you, but I can help you make your own right choice.
12 "Many are called but few are chosen" should be, "All are called but few
choose to listen." 13 Therefore, they do not choose right. 14 The "chosen
ones" are merely those who choose right sooner. 15 Right minds can do this
now, and they will find rest unto their souls. 16 God knows you only in
peace, and this <is> your reality.

In the end it's like the old Jewish joke were Moshe Finkelstein asks God
if it's true that the Jews are the chosen people. And the reply comes:
"Yes, Mr. Finkelstein, you are the chosen people." To which Moshe says:
"Can't you choose someone else for a change?"
On a more serious note another parallel is Mozes in the Old Testament
making excuses that he doesn't have a good speaking voice, why not pick
Aaron. What is not clear from that story is that somewhere inside we've
asked for: "Another way," we became available, we chose to listen... so it
is not a passive situation of suddenly being "called" out of the blue.
However as long as we are in the mass (of individuals - the one thousand
and two thousand in the Thomas Logion), marching along in the dream, we
are chosing NOT to listen. Only when we begin to question the dream of the
world, do we begin to choose to listen, and our experience then may be one
of "being called," because we are now learning to "Step back and let him
lead the way" (Lesson 155), we are starting to listen to the Holy Spirit
rather than the ego.
