P/GoTh:
quote I am the one who comes from what is whole. I was given from the things of my Father. Therefore, I say that if one is whole, one will be filled with light, but if one is divided, one will be filled with darkness. unquote
Form: Pursah goes to work with a carving knife here, instead of the more usual scalpel, and she eliminates fully two thirds of the text, which has grown to be a little story, reminiscent of the style of the canonical gospels. She restores just the core of Jesus' saying.
Content: In DU Pursah connects this statement directly to saying 47, and she comments( DU p. 76 ff.), "In other words, to revisit an earlier point, you can't have it both ways. You can't be a little bit whole, any more than a woman can be a little bit pregnant. Your allegiance must be undivided. You must be vigilant only for God. This state of mind does not come all at once; it takes a lot of practice.
This statement sounds much like the Course, though it also contains an allusion to the parable of the prodigal son, which Arten and Pursah clearly regard as accurate also. It makes clear that the choice between the ego and the Holy Spirit is completely either/or, black or white. And of the two thought systems only one is true, and that is the one reflecting wholeness, our right mind, the home of the Holy Spirit.
